Here's a more recent BMW document, with a bit clearer instructions to wash & oil the bolts. The warning is for "another" lube (such as moly), which could significantly change the friction during tightening and throw off the results. The intent is for these instructions to be applicable with threads lubricated with engine oil. The language is awkward there, but don't get too hung up on it. "Not applicable when another surface condition exists or lubricated condition of threads is used. Paragraph 1 seems to indicate torque values are the same regardless of lubrication. That's not how I read the update, hence my post.
